This was taken during a sleet storm in January 2011. The Chickadee was perched on a shrub in my front yard, timing was fortunate to capture a quick flip of it's wings and tail. The branches had a thin coating of ice on them, causing serious color fringing which left white edges when addressed. At some point in the future I may revisit this one.

    Randall,

Greetings. This really captures the cold. With the blur, the detail on the ice, diagonals, and head angle... everything is popping with the composition. Good show! Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

I completely agree with Catherine, it looks like a watercolor painting. I really like the softness & blur of the whites on the breast contrasting with the wet spiky feathers on the head. Glad the eye is in focus. The bkgd turned out very well conveying that snowy feeling.

Excellent image. I can almost feel the cold, and see the bird shaking off the wet. Beautiful soft colors. A very cute bird.

Late to the party Randall, but this is one sweet image! I really love the processing and the base image is super. Great job on this one! The white outlines on the branches don't bother me at all, they add to the feeling of cold.
