    Default Western Tanager

When we were at a pull-off along Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park this morning I heard a familiar song. It sounded like a Summer Tanager, but not exactly. When we saw the orange-red head, brilliant yellow body, and coal-black wings we knew it was a Western Tanager. This was the one bird that I was hoping to see on this trip.

Fortunately it stayed around long enough for me to snap it's picture.

All comments and suggestions are welcome!

nice lighting and sharpness, always fun to see a bird you are hoping for! We see them often here in the Sierra Nevada, but never gets old.

What a beauty! Love the colors & sharpness! I'd take away a little more on the top & right, but that's just me. Nice one, well done!
