    Default Black-headed Grosbeak

Another of my backyard friends this year. This seems to be a young male. He was very tentative and not as agressive as another male in the area. Another very high ISO image.

Hi Bonnie. Very nice. We have just started seeing the Black-headed Grosbeaks - haven't seen an evening grosbeak yet this year.

Hey, looks like the same perch from your Purple Finch thread :-)

Great looking bird, perfect exposure and yet another impressive high ISO display. Maybe a little tight in the frame though.

    Hi Bonnie,
Your description of him as tentative is nicely portrayed in the photo. Nice subtle colors and details.
