Not really a macro shot, so hope it still fits within the context of the forum. I liked how the light illuminated this Red Admiral Butterfly and how the dark greens and darkness of the forest contrasted his colors. His pose could have been a bit better, but he flew off right after this shot.

A slightly different crop, so a newish version.

The spotlight on the butterfly is nice, and the environment is nice, but I don't think that there is quite enough visual interest in the foliage and trunk to float the small-in-the-frame butterfly. Either the butterfly would need to be larger, or the surround needs more zip in my opinion. But I like the fresh approach.

I'd wish for more zip in the butterfly. Not saturation -- the oranges are good. But it's lost against the BG. I do like the general idea, though.

I see what attracted you, the spotlight effect is dramatic. I like the mostly dark bkgd with just parts of the green leaves having subdued light. And I like that the tips of the antennae are bright little spots of light. If these Admirals let you get closer it would be good to try that.
