Okay, this has been bothering me for a couple of years now.
Each year there's a contest in my area I'd like to enter, except for one thing,
its film only. If you place, you need to turn in the negative of the print.
I've never entered since I'm a 100% digital. But it bugs me every year
cause I feel like I'm being penalized. I know I can take a digital print
and get a negative made out of it. On the other hand, I tell myself
that's cheating.
Being an ethical type of person, I always want to do the right thing.
You could with statistics in had and show them that film is the past and digital the future. They may be using it as a means to limit tyros thinking only the P&S crowd use digital.
Those using medium and large format still are using film - though medium format backs, and large format are available at mucho $$$. Is the larger format crowd what they are catering too?
