One more image that I made recently while leading a photo workshop here in Costa Rica.
This is the largest hummingbird specie in Costa Rica and can be very territorial, gladly it likes to visit my flowers! For this one I used a costus plant (ginger relative) as this bird visits and feeds from this plant in the forest.
It is paramount for me to use native plants and also plants that I know a hummingbird visits in a regular basis.

    For this one I used

    1D4
    300f/4@f/13
    ISO320
    Four speedlites
    Tripod
    PP in PS CS6

    Thanks for looking.

I just love everything about this pic - beautiful flower, soft BG, bird beautifully frozen in mid air! Well done JC!

Wonderful violet color shades on birds, beautiful pose with full up wings, nice HA, perch flowers with contrast colors.
Very nice composition. Spectacular frame. Great st up. Love it.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Quite a lovely image. All the boxes checked for me. Nice comp, although I might imagine an alternate with just a slivver off bottom and left, with corresponding amount added right and top; but very handsome as posted. What was the SS?

Striking colors and excellent "frozen" wing position, Juan.

Just gorgeous! I agree with Bill on the slight cropping but otherwise a stunning image.
