Hi Rachel , i just simply like this ........ for what it stands for .
Great wide view , lovely colors and the trees in the BKG are balancing the comp well.In a really nice world the bush would have not been there

Thanks Andreas and Stu, much appreciated. Stu - I think it was a red billed oxpecker but not 100% sure and it's back was to the camera.
Thanks again,
Rachel

Lovely African plains image with the zebra a perfect anchor for the scene. Beautiful light as you mention. Makes one feel good to be in Africa on safari! I didn't notice the bird until I read Stu's comments.

Hi Rachel
I realise more and more how important light is when capturing an image- slightly harsher light would ruin this image..
Good comp and exposure.
On my monitor I see a bit of blues creeping in on mouth-corner.
Lovely image!

The zebra's serene look is the highlight, to me, of this lovely image. I find myself wondering what has captured its attention in the distance.
Just an observation: do you think there is a bit too much red sat overall?
The rusty look of the dried grasses at center-right has me curious about the WB/color temp, which can be tricky in low sunlight.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Bill - I'm pretty sure that's a clump of red grass which we saw a lot this trip. I used the eye dropper to set the wb.
Thanks again,

Hi Rachel, yep a good morning was had, with some unusual animals too.
Like the wider aspect, but feel it needs a tad more space below, however then you would have had a steeper angle of view, looking down, so a 50/50 call perhaps. Stu, it is an OP, something I was trying to get, but are juveniles all brown without the coloration to the eye & beak or is that a female? I quite like the balance of subject & tree. The eye and nose looks a wee bit light, thought it may have been a bit more darker?

Thanks Steve, I didn't lighten or dodge either the nose or the eye so think it may just be the way the light is hitting them.

Nice shot to show off the surroundings. Definitely captured the feel of early morning light.

Nice light and a very nicely designed image. That said I too would like a bit more room below, and a bit more room above.

I like this although a slightly lower angle might have given a slightly more intimate view of the zebra. But not too low that you lose all the bg which is beautiful.

Lovely light and overall compositional balance here, Rachel.
Put my name on the list for a tad more room above and below
