    Continuing on the Stonechat theme, I was hoping for some raptors in flight recently and as the sun set i was pushing up the ISO slowly when this young stonechat popped out of nowhere

    It only gave me a few shots so I did not get time to adjust the settings. Seems to have come out quite nicely

    D800e
    300f4 + 1.7x TC
    1/1600
    f6.7
    ISO 1250

    Hand held

    25% cropped and usual basic processing. Separated BG and applied NR and slightly pulled down the curve

    USM on the subject after resizing for web

    Nice looking pose and I like the perch and the BG. Good job on the vert comp and the details look good. Looks like a baby to me. Might just be the angle. Well done

    Shane I agree it as come out quite nicely, young bird with not the best of feathers but what it as you have captured very well ,BG adds to this image IMHO.

    Nice one Shane. A little something in the background would lift it a little for me but thats just a personal thing. Ours are all festooned with rings around here !

    Sweet light and BG. I like the thorny perch and the excellent eye contact. Lovely image.
