I have been quite busy over the last few weeks and not had time to post.
With the garden birds busy feeding young some have been quite approachable by just sitting still.
Here is a portrait of a Blackbird I took.

    Nikon D7000, 300mm F4 Af, 1/500 sec f4.5 ISO800.

You have handled a difficult image design problem perfectly. I might lose the one bright spot just in front of the bird's chest, and get rid of the dirt on the plumage. EXP and SH perfect.

I too like the image design. Sharp where it counts. Since this is a close portrait I would have waited till I had found a bird that had a much cleaner bill.

Strangely, Blackbird head shots make good subjects. The dirty beak doesn't worry me too much.

Thanks for the comments. Artie I hadn't noticed the bright spot untill you mentioned it and agree cleaning that would help. I also agree on cleaning the plumage in this case.
I don't mind the dirty beak myself and thinl it adds some interest, but could see a version with a clean beak as well.

  7. Thanks Arthur Morris thanked for this post
