    Default White-breasted Nuthatch

One of my backyard birds, from a few days ago. I've got many images of him without the 'planetary' look of the BG, but I thought the light coming through the woods behind my house added an interesting graphic element. Any opinions?

Nice image Bill. I remember these upside birds from the time I lived up north. I like your set-up perch, it looks natural. I might be inclined to clone out the planetary look for a more even BG.

Really nice IQ Bill the exposure looks spot on. I like the composition but wonder if it would be stronger if the bird was further towards the bottom of the frame with more above if you have it. What do you think?

I know that many members here donīt like to see those big blobs in the BG but I love them as they make the image look so natural and imperfect! thatīs how nature is so that is fine with me!
You got a very cute bird, nice and natural pose and excellent light! TFS

Beautiful looking Nuthatch doing what they do. Nice head turn and slightly open beak. Unique BG. If you had said nothing IMO about the BG, people either would not mention it, (because it does work well) or like it, as above.

The planets don't bug me at all; in fact, I'm going to take away from this view your choice of the word "planetary" to describe those balls of light in BGs. The nuthatch is sharp and well-exposed.

Thanks Iain. If he were 'right side up', I'd agree, as in a typical woodpecker comp. But here, I feel he needs more space in the direction he's heading.

That's easier said than done, John. It's contrary to their way of seeing the world. Here's a link to one from some time ago: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...asted+nuthatch
