A scene from my local National Recreation Area, the Santa Monica Mountains. This was captured at the Peter Strauss Ranch. It is a single image that I processed using Topaz Clarity and some adjustments in LR5.

OOOOhhh -- I love this -- my kind of place! The wide angle on the FG just invites you up into the trees, and the sun burst is a great touch.

The top 1/3 gets a little harsh looking compared to the rest. What would you think about brushing away some of the effect there?

I like that crisp look that Clarity can give. Beautiful lighting on the orange vegetation outlining the rock ledges leading up to the trees. Also like the variable lighting on the leaves and branches of the trees. All adds a magical glow to the image. Great to have a few visible rays around the sun, giving all that nice lighting a clear source.

I wonder if I climb those steps will I find Smaug's treasure. Very nice processing and composition. I like how the whole image draws ones eye to the center.

I love these kind of images, nice light with some reflected off the steps. Magical place indeed!

Hi, Kerry, very magical "hobbit" kind of place. I love the steps leading up to something we can supply with our imagination I'm not a big fan of Clarity but I really like it in this image.

I really like this one-strong composition and excellent processing. Keying on Diane's comment, perhaps burning in the sky color and slightly reducing contrast in the upper regions would balance the lower region?
