Default 3-Frame Art Vivid HDR Palouse Blur

This three-frame in-camera Art Vivid HDR pan blur image was also created on our first morning of Palouse scouting, just moments after the image above with the Gitzo 3532 LS carbon fiber tripod, the Mongoose M3.6 head, Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM lens with Internal 1.4x Extender (with the internal extender in place at 366mm) and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III . ISO 400. Evaluative metering +1 2/3 stops +/- two stops around the base exposure of 1/3 sec. at f/45 in Av mode. White Balance = AWB.

Central Sensor/Surround/AI Servo-Rear Focus AF 1/3 of the way into the frame, re-composed, and panned slowly from right to left (and then possibly back again….) Click here to see the latest version of the Rear Focus Tutorial.

As for the image, don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I have been away from OOTB too long. It was your Cheryl who got me to promise to visit each forum at least once a week and I have been doing just that. I am most impressed by the quality of work that I am seeing here. Kudos to all especially Cheryl.

I like it a lot, the technique made a very nice abstract image. I love the colors and the undulating shapes, and the way the detail and saturation fall off into the horizon. Very nice!

Hi, Artie, I feel like I'm back at the Palouse I love all of the layers and shapes - and your technique for doing Art Vivid with panning is wonderful.

    Artie,

Greetings. The fluid blur and the land shapes work well together. Just a bit more contrast in the URC would work for me, as it is I want to see it with a bit of ccw rotation. I don't see the need (ccw rotation) on the un-blurred version on your site. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Beautiful undulating waves of color. I like the yellows & greens in the foreground shading back into blues & purples, giving a feeling of depth. Thanks for sharing the "panning with art vivid HDR" technique.

Very eye catching image, love how the color change throughout the image from front to back. Creative, perfect OOTB image.

Thanks. Since the third exposure is the longest I would pan in one direction for the 1st 2 exposure and then go back the other way for the 3rd.....
