Here's another one from the world-class hides at Zimanga Private Game Reserve in northern KZN in South Africa. You're going to have a hard time getting to photograph some of these elusive small species out on a normal birding trip.

    From left to right:
Blue Waxbill, 2x Jameson's Firefinch, Blue Waxbill, Yellow-fronted Canary

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s
    Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
    f6.3 | 1/1250 SS | ISO-5600
Low light and you lose a stop of light shooting through specialised 1-way glass (with no realisable loss of sharpness though)...DOF is limited for longer lenses as you are 5m from the water's edge.

lovely color palette and BG Morkel. only one bird appears to be in sharpest focus though and the OOF ones will hold the image back. If this is a setup I would recommend photographing in brighter light so you can stop down to something like f/16 or use a shorter lens to get more of them in focus.

Very nice Morkel, love the colors and the bird variation. Two nits are Arash suggestion that the first thing that I noticed, F/11+ would have helped. Also wish the Canary on the right looked into the image and not out. That said, great shot.

Hi Morkel - interesting to see the different birds lined up and nice colors. Agree with the points Arash made. Any more room below to give the canary's reflection a bit more room?

Hi Mork, excellent eye level perspective, and great to get a variety of birds all in one image/shot. Love the waxbill on the left enjoying his dip.

THis is such a fun image, Morkel. I think it works well and has all kinds of interest despite all birds being sharp.
