Default Molten Sunrise - Common Loon

This image was captured last week in northern Michigan. I was struck by the effect of the bird on golden sand or molten gold. The effect was caused by heavy amounts of pollen in the water and lots of subtle specular reflections, and the very tangential lighting.

D4 600VR f/5 ISO 1250 1/2500s Taken from my little boat, Loonie too.

Post: Leveled, with slight crop top and bottom for comp. The eye was just the faintest glimmer, so used a bit of detail extractor on it.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

As already mentioned, the atmosphere is just beautiful, Randy. Comp is nailed too.

Beautiful shot my first reaction is what has he done to the eye should it really be so apparent, having said that I think it is a super shot.

Very nice, love the mood. Maybe a bit more contrast in the loon. Overall a beautiful image.

Hi Randy, you have placed the Loon so well in the frame, and love the light and golden water. An opportunity well used - not that you miss much when you are out shooting Loons.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

I go back and forth on the eye, as far as whether to keep the slight exposure tweak.

Dvir - because of the foggy morning, I left the swirling fog around the bird to go with the background

    Cheers
