Holger love the crisp neat head and it's smashing Blue throat and interesting Bg ,bit more detail on the tail would be icing on the cake, it would be lovely to have everything as we would like it ,super looking image.

    Cheers Keith.

Pretty bird and background. Sharp where it matters. Work on training him to pose parallel to the sensor plane.

Nice looking shot Holger. I like the birds colors and the HA looks great too. Nice and sharp on the head. Looks like you were pretty close with that 800mm and the 1.4 which left the DOF fairly narrow. Nice capture.

Beautiful colors, nice eye contact, focus where it counts (more of the body in focus would have been nice but this is a keeper regardless!). Rarely easy to photograph these small birds sensibly but you've had the right equipment with you. Well done!

nice pose and BG, you caught this little fellow in a good position. I wish for more DOF to at least get the feet sharper.

Ups, It is my error. The row with the specified capture values is copied and pasted from another of my images. All specified values are ok but not 1.4x. Sorry.

Holger we learn all the time on this forum, the point Andreas as raised re the( red/magenta )is valid the more I look at your image, but still wish it was mine.

Hi Holger , color is just subjective , we all see things different from to time .
My view is as per RP .
In PS CC i adjusted the WB in ACR , levels adjustment in PS , selective color adjustment (+ 5 blacks to the neutrals ) and hue /sat adjustment (- 10 yellows)

Hope that helps , you must not like it , just to give a different view .

    Cheers Andreas

What a sweet little bird! Love the pose, perch, BG. The bits of leaves add a lot, although I'd give a bit more canvas at left for the closest leaf being close to the edge I too thought the OP (and your repost) has a magenta cast. For my version I added 12 points of greens and 2 points of cyans in Color Balance:

The lack of DOF leaves me longing for a slightly sharper look. A favorite bird of mine, and a super image.
