Hi folks back to Helgoland still so many images to visit and see what to delete and what to keep .I do find it hard to delete as long as they are technically good..
These two where playing in the surf for quite a while , looked like they were enjoying themselves .
Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 200-400 at 400 mm
Tripod
F 8 ; Iso 3200 ; 1/1000 sec ; man exposure +2 ev compensation
Cropped for pano format from all sides
Processed in Photo Ninja and PS CC ; was not sure about overall WB , sky was covered with thick grey clouds. And still thinking going a tad warmer overall ?
Thanks for watching and commenting on previous post
Hi Andreas - another nice one but probably my least favorite of the series. I think it may just be that the behavior/action isn't as defined in this one and the flipper (?) coming out of the head isn't ideal. Sharpness and detail are there as usual but this one just isn't doing it for me, personal preference of course. I am seeing the slight halo again and also would consider backing off on the sharpening on the splash between the two seals. Sorry, I would probably like it more if you didn't hadn't posted the other images.
Andreas, it is more difficult to easily see what is happening in this image. Looks like that upper flipper is going to smack down on the lower seal. I like all the splashing water. It adds to the action. With the lower seal's head a bit blurred, that bright red mouth seems jarring. From all your images, Helgoland looks like a fabulous place to visit.
Hi Rachel and Nancy , quite difficult from a big number of images picking out one highlight after the other , so there has to be a favorite or a 1st , 2nd etc.
And all are different none are the same.
Besides the very slight halo , i still like this one . Flipper out the head , for me not ideal but no deal breaker , the action goes on that fast from time to time i am happy to keep the focus on the heads and keep the comp .
So no problem for me being not the first choice for you girls , meaning the image.
And yes Nancy the island is a nice spot easy access by boat and NO cars on that island , all can be reached on foot , and you can stay just 100 meters from the seals in a hut , just behind the dunes.
