Hi, Stuart, the strong Oil Paint in the background works nicely I think. Reddish egrets are such cool birds! I might lighten the green bands in the background and I think you could crop a little from the top.

Great capture of this reddish egret in glorious breeding colors. The pink and blue are so unexpected and really capture your attention. Good to clearly see the eye. I like the feeling of flow in the bkgd with the blue & green layers, and the corresponding flow with the feathers. Agree with Cheryl about cropping some from the top.
