    Default Indian Rhino with friends

Hi folks going to another continent with a different species , i really like those old looking creatures, they have more character ,for me, than the African relatives.

Image taken in northern India , found this guy peacefully grazing in the water, the water plants.

Canon EOS 1D MK II n
    EF 500 IS L
    Beanbag

    F 8 ; Iso 200 ; 1/350 sec; slight crop for rotation

Processed in Photo Ninja and PS CC , gave the image a slightly warmer look with selective color

Hope you like it , C&C welcome

Thanks watching and feedback on previous post

    Cheers Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

Nice pose, like the caked mud and the show of environment. I think a little of the bottom would still work for me (up to the vegies) but I bet you have reasons for the crop you have...

Hi Andreas - I love the Indian Rhino's suit of armor and this shows it off nicely. I wouldn't crop any off the bottom because you'll get too close to or crop the end of the reflection of the horn and ears. The egrets are a nice addition. I do wish the eye wasn't in deep shadow. It makes it more difficult to distinguish the eye from the other spots and mud.

Hi Andreas, if you were to compare this to say a more modern camera body, the image hold up very well.

I'm happy with the framing and I like the inclusion of the reflection. I also like the way the Egrets act as bookends to the Rhino. A small adjustment of the Neutrals & Blacks does help IMHO. This species typifies armour plating I think.

Hi Andreas - "A golden oldie". Something I would love to see someday. The comp or framing shows this off well and you have done well with the processing. TFS

Thanks folks for your watching and feedback ,appreciate your suggestion.

Rachel agree with you about the eye , but under the circumstances opening up the eye , being that small in the frame ,is useless for me.

Steve tried your suggestion in my RP, does look better , have been to that stage and then opened up shadow range .Should have stayed there .

Don - did not want to cut off the mirrored ears and horn .

    Hello Andreas,

I find your subject here quite fascinating, well captured and if I were to choose I think I would prefer the RP. I am glad you allowed for the reflection, I also like the detail on the rhino and the colours look very natural to me. Great comp with the avian "friends" included, good thinking and thoughtful processing - stunning work Andreas, sorry I missed some of your recent posts while I was away but I am catching up...

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
