    Default Moorhen

This morning driving home and standing in front of a red light i saw this bird.
Like they say, the early bird catches the worm :D

Taken without tripod (it had to go fast) but i still think its a nice picture (with tripod it would have been sharper, i know ;) )

I like the overall setting, well exposed, and yes the early bird gets the worm :-) A bit too much foreground IMO (lifting your lens an inch or two higher would have been good), and bad luck with the mud clumps, but a neat scene to share.

Many people are more at ease following action handheld, whatever feels right for you is the way to go.

Wonderful setting here, and the colors of the bird work well with the environment. Agree on a bit too much foreground. Look pretty sharp. It would be helpful if you could include your equipment and settings. I don't know what lens you were using, but many people photograph without a tripod. With the newer cameras and the ability to photograph at higher ISO's, it works for many.
