Hey guys get away from Africa , my time is coming in October this year and i will blast you with African images till the end of the year, so as contrast i move to Jasper NP in Canada.

Took this guy close to dusk in the park while he was patrolling his territory.

So i tried to keep the contrast relatively low, for me .

Hi Andreas - I like the pose and the comp with the elk next to the lake and the layers of color in the bg. The blue of the bg is typical of that area especially at dusk. Contrast looks good to me but you knew I would say that . Nice detail too. I might just back off on the sharpening of the fg grasses as they look sharper than the elk.

Hi Andreas, I think on this occasion the 70-200 would have been the better option and so there was a bit more space, habitat & environment within the image, I keep wanting to see more above and those mountains, it's a cracking location. Also, again this is with hindsight, if you could have moved a bit more to the left so the green FG shrub was more central underneath the Elk, it may have been better, but no deal breaker. I like the light conveying the time of day and the typical highlights in the water. Personally I thought the darker areas in the face/bridge of the nose may have been a wee bit darker? If it's not too tight, I would crop out that mall branch coming in on the LH edge, or at least remove/clone out the half white blob.

I like the overall winter colours here Andreas, and agree on toning down the highlights just a tad in the water but overall a well captured habitat scene.

Thanks folks for your feedback .

Rachel - you are right could back off on sharp grass , already less sharpening there , but could be even less , good point.

Steve - i was on foot and the car with 70 - 200 was some hundred meters away on the side of the road , so no chance to get it quickly .I actually lightened the face slightly , could be a tad darker , from time to time image look slightly lighter when uploaded .
Agree like wise on the shrub in front and the stuff on LHS , thanks for the points , appreciate them Maestro.

Marc - for me the HL in the water are ok , but will try to tone them down without looking too grey.

Thanks again folks , Cheers Andreas

Great processing and colours. For me, the only thing that would improve it is to have a hint of his movement, or if he's standing still, to have him facing towards you slightly. This looks a little as if he's stopped and is in a daydream!
