    Western Screech-Owl immature (Megascops kennikottii)
    Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, United States, May
    The parents usually "park" the young owls in a fairly secluded spot while they are off hunting. This one was in the middle of a very spiny Mesquite tree near my house.


    1D Mark IV, 300 f/4, 580EXII, gitzo, wimberely, 1/200 sec; f/11; ISO 250
    PP in CS6, very basic, curves, slight increase in saturation, slight crop from the top right, red eye removed.

    Very striking image with the well lit eyes and the large pupils. Good looking feather detail and I like the natural setting. Well done

    Nice find and the owlet is well separated from the BG. Lovely direct gaze.
    I find the flash work a bit bright on the plumage for my taste and I would clone out or trim back the brown OOF branch touching his head ( if not against your ethics)

    I like the pose and habitat but would be tempted to clone out the brown branch that Gail pointed out. Also I think your flash is a bit strong.
