Hi folks i like to break the African cycle here.
I show a Red Deer taken during rutting season in Hoge Veluwe NP in the Netherlands .Waiting half of the day for these guys to come out and make spot safe for me and my car , if you come late it could be a problem came you have to share with other visitors almost like being in Kruger Park when there is a Lion sighting , funny hey.

    Hi Andreas

Love the comp, and much more colours in BG/FG than the boring winter African bush..

The deer pops, love the dried mud for texture .

The antlers are amazing, did you do any D&B?

    Any NR on far BG?
    Regards

    Andre.

Hi Andre thanks for your comment
No D&B in a classical manner , but some kind of with blend modes and working selectively on antlers and body
    Yes NR on BG

The deer really stands out from the bkgd and foreground, showing great colors and details, mud included. Just thinking, but possibly extend some of that selective blending to include some of the grasses that surround the legs, to incorporate the deer a bit more to the spot he is standing on. You captured a great moment when the deer is intensely posed, with the head & body tensing forward and the eye wide.

thats a cracker! A14 pointer too ! Like the mud and the Bg- enough detail to convey the setting- and not too much.
    Great stuff

Hi Andreas - Nice looking deer and I like the placement in frame and the pose. Excellent sharpness and detail. I might burn a couple of the brighter spots in the bg such as the one right behind the rump and the one closest to the left edge. Overall, nicely done.

    Rachel

    Hi Andreas,

a great proud chap. Love as well the comp. Rachel made some good suggestions above. The mud adds to the big chap for sure. Very nice image.

    Have a great day

Didn't know that we have a copy of Kruger in Europe with all the cars!!! That is quite a pain sometimes!

Hi Andreas, good to break the 'African cycle' and this works nicely. Like the Autumnal colours and this guy is clearly in the rutting season. Caught in mid stride adds to the overall comp and everything balances nicely. Personally I'm OK as presented, but you could address the lighter branches at the rear, but no deal breaker IMHO. Great clarity & sharpness for the ISO, well processed!

Thanks folks for your watching and comments .
Followed your suggestions about toning down some of the lighter spots in the BKG .Hope that please your eyes.

Anette - i should have taken an image of the lined up cars and people for illustration that you can have a look , it is even worse than Kruger

    Cheers Andreas

    RP looks great t me.

    What a b…. h… on e… with the cars.
You need to come along with me in October to the Pfalz for those chaps. No cars lined up, you sit somewhere in the bushes and wait.
Can organize this with my brother Let me know, if you like to come. I will do it this year, it is on my calendar already and a few things for Europe just came up as well.

Andreas! You are naughty! Did you say Kruger? You are going to the Ka-la-ha-ri in October, if I may remind you!

Can't believe it, we are actually going to see Kruger again next week, myself and Andre...I once said I shall never put foot there again (amazing place and wildlife but too many people). Well it so happens we are visiting family nearby and Andre thought we should give Kruger another chance...Will let you know what it was like when we return.

Andreas, I must admit I was so taken with the way the subject popped from the BG that I did not notice the bright bits behind him - the RP is great and and I like the subtle changes!

    Have a great evening,
    Gabriela Plesea

Beautiful image - I would just crop a tiny bit off the lhs. That sliver of pale area is drawing my eye.
