Back from my trip to Namibia. No idea yet where to start. Had a great dinner with some BPN members in Jo'burg. Heard a lot, I get prepared for lots of cats!!!

This Warthog I met on a waterhole in Etosha, rubbing it's "behind" against a rock with more beauty mud to get really up to be Mr Universe
Thought this one is a nice start to post after getting back and being clean as well by now, after all my camping here and there.

    MK IV
ISO 1000 ( had a few jumpers just before!)
    f/8 1/3200
    lens 300 f/2.8 & 2x ext. III
    Time at 3pm
Did the usual in Lightroom, Midtones and levels in PS CC,
    Cropped for composition about 10-15%

Hi Anette welcome back after a longer dive into the underground , how did you make your way back up ?
Hope you had a good and fruitful time ,meanwhile.

Mr universe is looking nice in tone and color with good detail and sharpness. Comp works fine for me , but i would loose some of the top area .Being to that place myself i would expect a way brighter image taken at 3 pm also looking at the shadows the sun was still pretty high. Nice handling of the high contrast .

Hi Anette, looks pretty cool, wouldn't change a thing. Comp looks balanced, well positioned in frame & size, detail & tone is there. Like the fact the water is angled, gives more interest IMHO. The lighting on the subject helps convey the wet mud just applied, has a nice sheen to it. If you want, then the LH tip of the tusk (as viewed) is hot, but an easy fix.

Had a great dinner with some BPN members in Jo'burg. Heard a lot, I get prepared for lots of cats!!!
Think we need to do more, don't believe everything you heard about cats.

Hi Anette - People pay a lot of money for that type of spa treatment! Nice detail, toning and handling of the Etosha light. I too would consider cropping some from the top. Dinner was fun!

    Hi There,

thanks so much for your comments.

Andreas, I digged myself out with a shovel Sunset was at this time around 5pm! 3pm was a nice time to get the images rolling in for me. It sounded like a machine gun all the time, just not always set to "high". The others have set it to high speed as I heard
The top part, naa would not change that at all.

Steve, yeah cats here and there and everywhere… heard all Even myself on the road in "golden morning light" found cats here and there and everywhere

Rachel, such spa we can do ourself. I know the places by now and it's all for free The top, as mentioned above, naa, would not change that at all

Thanks so much for your time to comment

Have a great day, here it is hot, 33 degrees, wow. Need to switch on the fan!!

    Ciao

I would also lose some off the top or go vertical..... To me, I think it could possibly be a tad warmer, just to give some colour to the hog....but that's personal preference.

Thanks Ed for your time to comment.
If I go vertical I squeeze the warthog in a box. This chap used all mud you see. I'd like to show a bit what is around the animals.
You are right, it is personal preferences

    Have a great day

Anette, I like the crop and comp.

The Hog looks like a runner in the blocks ready to blast off!

Love the Hogs and their antics!

    Hello Anette!

Can I squeeze in a last minute opinion, after having read the comments above? If Mr Universe was mine, I would leave his "Universe" as is, love the space around him, rocks and all, and I would not like to put him in a box either. Well exposed and processed, and I really like the warthog's pose...well processed and presented, enjoyed viewing!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
