    Default North Chagrin Reservation Rant

I'm just in one of those moods :)

Living in Euclid, OH, my favorite spot for years to go for bird photography
was the North Chagrin Reservation Nature Center. The pond was famous
for their wood ducks and in the back they had a nice group of feeders
setup that attracted woodpeckers, grosbeaks, orioles, etc.

    Now? It's a freaking mess.

This past weekend I counted one Wood Duck and tons of Geese. The
pond, which use to be beautiful and pick up the reflection of the trees
and skies is muddy and crappy.

The worse is where the feeders are. The weeds/grass is so high, if
Kareem Abdul Jabbar walked in there, you would never see him.
There's even a nice little pond in there...invisible.

For two years now I've went inside the Nature Center and explained
to them what should be done. Nothing happens.

    It may be budget-related, Doug.

At one of my favorite county parks here in Eastern Pennsylvania, the grass in one field was nearly three feet high before they mowed it a few days ago !

For a while I thought they were returning it to a more natural state, which I'm sure birds and wildlife would appreciate.

But, no, it wasn't the case. For now, it's back to its 3-or 4-inch trim height.
