    Default Painted Bunting in song

Another from my visit to Texas Hill Country. I had the opporunity to study under Alan Murphy and Scott Ellowitz at the Los Madrones Ranch just out side of Austin.

All I have to say is GO THERE !!!! Mike Murphy the owner has a wonderful little place on the TX Birding trail.

So here is Painted Bunting on the perch we nicknamed stumpy...

    Thanks for looking,
    Lou

Wow, Lou! Everything is perfect here in my eyes. Not only have you caught the bunting in full song, and Stumpy, the perch is awesome too- I love the twisting textures in it. All the flowers seem perfectly placed. It is all absolutely beautiful. I am envious!

I recently came across a painted bunting at an orange grove while out flying Amy's hawk- the first one I have ever witnessed. The following week I planned on photographing it, only to find out that it was found dead under the dining room table of the property owner- courtesy of the resident cat!

Very pretty setting, great BG, light and singing pose. Looks "murphyesk" indeed. :) Did you use a MP3 player for sounds or did he sing on its own?

Simply fanastic image! the colorful bird and flowers contrast to the dry-topped tree. Really fantastic!
