Lovely bird to have around the backyard Joel. Cracker of a shot. My critical eye keeps being distracted by that little bit of oof perch above the bird. I would be tempted to try to sharpen it or doctor it with a clone tool. Cheers, Ian

I like the contrast - red bird / dark green background. Everything else is also excellent - perch, BG, details, comp. Thanks for sharing!

Perfect pose on this one, and I love the BG. Since I believe you are working in your back yard, I think you might be able to do even better with the perch.

Simply stunning image, Joel. Fine detail and wonderful soft light. Like the profile and eye contact.

Beautiful bird and deep green background. My eye was immediately drawn to the perch in upper left corner as it should be oof there. I then noticed you cloned in a bit from the lower part there. The idea is good assuming you got rid of a distracting element, but you should blur that sharp part. All else looks very good.

Thanks Daniel, I did get rid of the corner of a bird feeder in the left upper corner....I should have noted that in my post.

Thanks Marina, you're right I could have searched for a perch with more character
