I have been watching this page for some time and finally decided to introduce myself and actually participate in some of the forums. I have been taking bird photos for several years now whenever I get the chance (which isn't anywhere near often enough). I am still very much in the "eager to learn" camp. So anyway if any of you are interested in my previous pictures please check out my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/91795492@N02/. Otherwise, I look forward to being an active poster.
Hi Flint,
Love your name! I had a look at your site and you have some nice images of species not often posted on BPN.
Look forward to your images.
Remember, it is always better to have an image of a bird coming towards you and try to shoot early in the am or in the evening. Mid day harsh light is always an image wrecker!

Welcome Flint... I was born and raised up the road a bit in south Taranaki, although I now live in Western Australia.. You will find this a great site for help and encouragement..
Thanks everyone for your comments. I am very much hoping that the winter here will be a mild one and looking forward to spring for some good photo ops. I appreciate your suggestions Gail, regrettably I am somewhat geographically and transport challenged when it comes to early morning shooting (with an unhelpful set of hills nearby and no car at present). Getting a vehicle and getting up earlier are both on my to do list!
