Central Sensor/AI Servo-Surround/Rear Focus AF on the line where the orange tulips meet the pink tulips and re-compose. Click here to see the latest version of the Rear Focus Tutorial.
It took some time and some effort but after a few days we finally found the right time and the one spot in Keukenhof where you could access some really nice tulip fields. Mike Gotthelf and I spent a wonderful afternoon there having a ton of fun, being creative, heck, plain messing around.
This image is a 3-frame in-camera HDR Art Vivid image created at a very slow shutter speed: 4/10 sec. I jiggled the camera somewhat forcefully during all three of the exposures. Thanks to Denise Ippolito for teaching me the jiggle blur technique. And thanks to participant Mike Gotthelf for inspiring me to combine two creative techniques, juggles blurs and in-camera HDR Art Vivid. Mike will be sharing a guest blog post with us here soon.

Really great composition using just horizontal layers of colors. Dramatic with the warm red/pink/orange colors in thick layers in the front and the thin layers of cool blue/purple/green in the distance layers. It's nice you can just make out the tulip shapes in the front 2 layers and see how tightly packed the blossoms are, and then they progressively blur into those bands of luscious colors. Has to be a very impressive display to witness!
Love the layers of color and texture. I have also been inspired by the cool in-camera effects of the 5DIII. When I first read about these features I though "yeah, right..." but the HDR works really well (and the camera lets you keep the three images in case you also want to try external HDR filters) and the multiple exposure mode allows for lots of creativity. Hope to see more of these Artie!

Thanks Kerry. Folks can learn a ton about their 5D IIIs in our User's Guide. There are lots of great tips on the AF system and all the details on Multiple Exposures and in-camera HDRs.
