Another warbler, this one from a different local preserve, taken a month ago. As happens all too often, I was out just after first light, but by the time I found where the warblers were hiding, it was late in the morning. Several warblers were flitting around in dark forest shadows interspersed with bright shafts of light which I did my best to mitigate. And I'm not crazy about the perch, but it's what he chose when he decided to sing for me.

Well done Bill!
This is my nemesis warbler.
I love the singing pose and the soft, subdued lighting which works well with the black, white and orange.
Lovely details and great color control of the orange.
I would clone out the OOF tree that intersects with the bird in a heartbeat. Otherwise no nits from me!

Oh a beautiful adult male! All I have in my files are first summer males and females. I like the overall colours. The singing pose is good, but I agree with your self critique about the perch. The angle also looks a tad steep. Perhaps darken the iris just a tad. Beautiful BG that offers a nice subtle hint of habitat. Nice details on the face, too.
Thanks everyone. Comments are appreciated. I agree, now that I look at it, that the iris looks bright. I went back and looked at the RAW file; I did darken the pupil, but the iris was pretty bright in the original. That's not to say that I couldn't tone it down, which I will do to the master file. I rather liked the BG on this one. I did clean it up a bit, but I'm not inclined to do any more cloning or blurring. Gail's point is well taken, though. It would have been better if the oof tree didn't intersect the bill.
I love this! Great light, sharpness and tonal detail! The perch doesn't bother me. The OOF branch in the BG could be mitigated by a masked adjustment layer to change the pinkish color to the warm neutral of the surroundings.
