    Spotted on a roadside poll, got him as he took off, out of car window

    7D 100-400 F5.6 1/5000 iso 640 strong light

    Hope you like the scene

    This could have been stunning if the light was behind you...we have all been there, many times:( ...like you , with this species, I'd have taken the photograph too. You cannot not photograph a Montagu's Harrier.

    Well caught Richard, shame about the light but I am certain most people would have been unable to resist getting a shot of Monty. A little NR on the shadowed areas may help a bit.

    Great catch! I would level the horizon. Was it possible to bring up the shadows and bring down the highlights in raw processing?

    You have done well for a grab shot, been there many times , they are not the easiest bird to get and the light at this time of the year for most of the day is too strong, you will have to set your alarm for an early start.
