    I was able to go to the marsh today and was fortunate to spot this heron. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D7000, Nikon 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 VRII AF shot at 300mm (450mm FFE), 1/1000 F/5.6 ISO 360
    Processed in Lightroom 5, cropped from horizontal to vertical for composition

    I think you did well to make your subject stand out in a difficult environmental situation. When I first saw the thumbnail, I said "no way" but it works!

    This works for me. Nice pose with a nice view of the environment.
    I would be tempted to clone out the one dead branch near the bottom of the neck.

    It is a bit to busy for me. The pearch itself is very Beautiful and interesting but I'm distracted bit those bright greens in the fg. Otherwise I like the pose and the light, nice exposure but I would bring down the whites on the neck.
