    Default Pollen Overdose

I went out to shoot some sunflower fields near me and my best shots ended up being macro. Glad I had my 100mm 2.8L with me.

The one mistake I think I made was my DOF was to narrow as I was shooting at f/3.5 because my original intent was to capture the bee in flight so I was going with a higher shutter speed. When the bee landed I forgot to change me aperture but I think it's a cool shot.

I agree it is a cool shot, in fact I don't mind the wide aperture at all, maybe 5.6 would have just given that bit more for the left antenna. I appreciate you have real sunshine over there (we have forgotten what it is!) but I think I would tone down the brightest yellows just a bit to reduce contrast and keep visual attention on the bee.

    Thanks Jonathan!

Yes and most times, at least in South Texas we have too much sunshine and not enough rain!

This image I reduced the exposure of the yellow petals about 1/2 stop, is that better?

Yes much better to my eye.
I am nt trying to teach you how to suck eggs but when you make your raw conversion it is a good idea to press the Alt key whilst you click on the black slider at the base of the histogram (same goes for the highlights) this will show very clearly id anything is too saturated/dark or if it is blown/too bright. It also indicated which are the specific offending colour components. Hope this helps a little.
