Hi Andreas, it is great to see a new species from a not well traveled part of the world. I can see why you shot this vertical to include the sky, but it feels tight around the rhino to me. The IQ is not as good as your usual photos, but I understand this was taken awhile back with older equipment, this the low ISO and wide open F5.6. TFS. Loi
Absolutely intersting image, i like the way you have chosen to give the subject the space and included the forest and some sky which makes it very interesting .
This is a huge animal and you have done nice work here
I like it
Andreas, although this image has the highly endangered rhino in it, my eyes first go to the unfocused middle area of the image, most likely because the rhino is partially hidden behind strong foreground vegetation. Possibly cropping most of the sky away would put more emphasis lower on the rhino.
Thanks folks for watching and commenting, from the beginning i was not quite happy with the result for various reasons.
First it is looking over processed , went off my beaten path , second i should stick to the original scene in terms of low light on a dull day in Assam .
Nancy i am fine with the comp , because the rhino is only a part of the frame so viewer should wander around the image , and i really like the sky as a contrast to the greenery and the rhino .
Will re process tomorrow if i find the time and will stick closer to original
Andreas I really like the vertical presentation with the context of land and sky...but you know what I would say - that bush in front!!
So many things we can't change in the field...
Seems to be a bit of magenta coming through overall??
Thanks Morkel and Dvir for your thoughts and comments.
i actually find it ok that the Rhino is partly hidden , no big issue for me. I feel in animalscape images the subject is not that important as in portrait etc, it is just part of the whole image .
But these are just my 2 cents.
Sounds a strange thing to say, but to me, the rhino looks ''too'' grey (i.e. without any cast at all). I would expect to see some green cast on it from the refelctions of the grass at least - almost looks like a stone rhino!! I wasn't there but it doesn't look quite natural to me.
