    Default Cuckoo.

Another visit to the cuckoo today- don't know if it is the same bird as regular watchers say that cuckoos have been seen here for last 7/8 years and always show well.
Perch provided as the natural ones are quite twiggy and messy.
Cropped , slight tweak to exposure and sharpening on the birds head and body, not the oof tail

John, no tape/call used the bird or birds come in freely to feed on caterpillars they pick from the ground, They seem to get them from a small blue flower that grows amongst the grass. They can stay for an hour or so and then move on for anything upto 3-4 hours. It is a long waiting game but when they return they are not shy of people and come fairly close.

    Hi Ivan
That's amazing !- getting them to an introduced perch is even more so. Have loads of people been doing them then? I seem to recall seeing something somewhere recently about this. I must admit - I have perchers but only from hides set up on something else !!
    Cheers
    John

A striking image and I love the way the subject pops against that lovely green BG. Super pose, super perch, I kind of like the slightly OOF tail - makes the rest of the bird more prominent and suggests movement, stunning capture Ivan!!!

    Kind regards,

Obviously worth the wait Ivan. Great pose and lighting. Would have liked to have seen a bit more DOF.

Good one Ivan. Tail is fine...IQ looks good. I should taken more pictures instead of wait for the bird fly up to a pre-focused perch...and also those damned sheep:(

Very good shot! Everything - pose, colors, details, BG is in place. I was also "hunting" cuckoos this weekend but was not that lucky.
