    Nice one Ian. Is this our "Moorhen "? In the old days with nest photography befiore it was frowned upon you had to be able to do one of these at the nest before you could call yourself a "bird photographer" !!!
    They are extreemely nervous and would desert a nest so readily.

    John, it's closely related to the Moorhen, but considered a separate species.

    you have nice low angle with beautiful colors, BG is a tad busy and the IQ is not great here. image has lots of noise and details look coarse to my eye. it looks like the nictitating membrane was half closed, you can correct that in post.

    They used to be called Moorhen, at least that is what my older field guides call them. Good exposure and a very nice reflection. I like the colours too. I agree with Arash about the noise and coarse details (looks properly focussed though - must be a processing and/or resizing issue).
