As Daniel's posts have shown, these birds are indeed incredibly vivid. Here, I desaturated the red channel 10 pts. to try and pull out some detail. I found it interesting that this same mulberry tree also hosted Northern Cardinals and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. I have to assume that their choice of food enhances their color.
Gorgeous, and the mulberries are a perfect touch! I'd be tempted to try to remove or lighten the shadow on the back of the head.
Often you can pull out more detail in reds and yellows (and any other vivid color) by trying different camera profiles in raw processing. Then once you get the most detail, use the other options (the most flexibility is in LR/ACR) to bring back the proper color. Saturation would be the last thing to touch, though, HSL the first.
They are vibrant eh! I like this scene with fruit in its bill. Diane's tip is worth checking out, I tried on mine after I posted and liked the results...
This is one bright fellow and I love the pose with the berries! I have not posted here in Avian in a long time, enjoyed browsing tonight and viewing images of various species, this is one attractive image I took great pleasure looking at Well exposed and I like the placement of the subject in the frame, thank you for this post
