One from last year. One of those things that you see once in a lifetime and manage to get some sort of shot.
OK -its not in water but still bathing I suppose !
This happened on the dry track running under the big open fronted nesting barn. I was set up on the usual perches around the yard and so facing the wrong way.Had to de tripod and stick the lens through a side hole in the hide . Shows how confiding the birds had become. Two Stock Doves walked up to the bird whilst it was going on! Very funny to watch.
For interest I suppose more than anything

Lost the exif but speed on 800 ISO and a big crop.
Put some water down but not seen to use it yet but I understand they do water bathe.

A great behavior shot. I would be tempted to crop in more.

    Thanks Alan
I thought about it but the IQ is not that great. Forgot to say -its about 60% of the frame as it is.

    lovely image John
the action is superb as the dust goes around and the eyes look fantastic
if mine i may crop a bit of the top and may be have more on the bottom to keep the image of same size,
this is very nicely done, its always our choice how we like to present the images

My baby Burrowing owls were taking dust baths today just like this. Its good for their feathers and helps to ward off lice and mites. I like the behavior and the dust in the air. I would also think about cropping a bit tighter or cropping and then cloning out the stuff on the top. IQ doesn't look bad at all. Also I would lighten it up a little too. Well captured John.

Wonderful! I'd love to see it with enough off the top to remove the stone in the UR, and a little off the right. IQ looks great from here!
