This is a forest-floor inhabitant, always reluctant to show up unless one use playback which is the case in this image. Very hard to have it in the ''right'' perch so just cross your fingers and prey the bird will land in a clean one!

    For this one I used

    1D4
    600f/4+1.4TC
    ISO1000
    SS 1/60sec.
    Fill flash @ 1/32
    f/5.6
    Tripod
    DPP and PS CS6
Pretty much as out of camera.
    Thanks for looking.

I love the colors and soft focus int eh BG but wish there were more detail brought out in the bird.

I well understand the difficulties working in tropical forests, light is always a big problem. In the circumstances, this capture looks great to me. I would be tempted to try to tone down the two main bright patches in the background but otherwise excellent work. Bravo!

Hi JC, you have managed a good angled pose, and just love that blue eye ring. If this were mine, I would blend in the two 'white' areas in the BG.

Awesome bird Juan and great capture given the environment and character of the bird. I agree with Ian and Stu in terms of the BG. TFS
