Who says they never stay long enough clear of shrub branches and leaves? This one at Brigantine NJ was very curious about us, giving many great poses on nice perches. C&C welcome.

    D700, 500mm + 1.4x tc, 1/640, f6.3, ISO 1000, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal Head.

Removed distracting bramble branches in cs6.

Yes, this guy was more visible than usual, but never for long, and usually covered by at least one branch. You were quick to lock focus before he flitted away. Love the inquisitive pose. It might be interesting to try a version with some crop off the RHS; and maybe a bit more NR on the BG.

Thanks Bill. Here is a little crop off the RHS and some more NR. Sometimes we need an extra pair of NR eyes.

Yes, I like the re-crop better too. Many birds look grumpy with a head-on view, this one is not exception. BG a bit distracting, but these guys do not always choose the best spots anyhow...good of you to get it in the clear.

Repost is an improvement. Nice bird, pose and with clean BG. I would increase contrast a bit if this one was mine.

Hi Geoffrey, good eye contact, and love the yellow and black colours on the head. Repost works well.
