Pretty bird, great setting and look back pose, and good call on the DOF.
Agree with your comment about the tail almost touching the bottom.
I tend to forget in the heat of the moment in the field too, but in this case you could have pointed the lens down a tad and added to the top more easily in post. Did you get any vertical shots?

Beautiful image a little canvas could be added without too much trouble. I like the pose and the colours but I would definitely lower the brightness of the image I appreciate it may have been bright light but I think if you lower the brightness selectively - just a small amount overall and a little more on the legs / feet it will make quite a difference.

Great light, pose and background. I wish for a little more canvas at the top and bottom.

Gorgeous bird. I'd reduce the exposure by about 1/3 EV and add a little more contrast. Loi

The composition is a little central for my taste but that is a tiny personal nit, but that apart it really is a stunning image that I would be very pleased to have in my collection.

Beautiful image of a stunning bird. Rest has been said. (If it was mine I would definitely give the bird a bit more space and move him to the left. TFS

Wonderful pose and detail!! A squeak less exposure could be interesting, although I find the slightly high-key treatment intriguing.

Is the color really that pink? The sunset may have been very red, but I'd be tempted to have a look with just some slight tweaks to reds, just for comparison, to lean more to yellow and away from magenta.

This would have been perfect had you thought of flipping your gear to create verticals. Nice light, exposure, details.
