    Default Red fox (vixen)

Canon 7D Canon 17-40mm @ 38mm, ISO 400 1/1000 sec f7.1, almost straight from the camera, desaturated the bright yellows a little (buttercups slightly blown) and lowered the highlights and whites just a tad, left contrast alone this time.
    All C&C welcome.

No idea how you get so close but nice job. Personally as she is looking down I would prefer more lower space than sky or more space all around. Cracking job on handling the highlights and contrast though!

No skill in getting close Neil she is a vixen in a location where she is fed regularly so she actually comes looking for food. She has a litter of cubs somewhere close by but I do not attempt to find them, if she comes close to me then I will take a few shots if she doesn't I don't go looking for her. The "photoshoot" is entirely on her terms, she is relatively safe in this location where she is not in contact with the general public but she does see certain people on a regular basis some of whom give her tit bits. She comes close as you see but she is wary and constantly on the move so the skill is in trying to get an image where she is in the environment and posing in a pleasing manner, not as easy as you might first imagine.

Jonathan, love it! it's unusual to be able to get this close with a wide angle. It gives a unique perspective. I thought this was a remote control of sort. Your PP was excellent to handle the high contrast image. Loi

Hi Jonathan, very well captured with great detail and exposure. The colours all look very natural, and I think your post processing work was top class. Something about the composition bothers me, but I also don't really have any suggestions about what I would change. My feeling is I would have liked a bit more space at the bottom and little less at the top.
    Well captured!

Hi Jonathan another nice one of this vixen , lovely colors as the previous one and nice look of the fox.
You have balanced the light a tad too much for my liking. I would expect either deeper shadows or brighter highlights , just depending whatever you like. But no deal beaker .
Still like this a lot . Agree about being a bit tight on the foot of the image .

Love the pose much more here, much more natural. I too would have liked a sliver more space below, but it's no deal breaker.
I kind of agree with Andreas, it seems that the contrast has been leveled just a hint too much, burning shadows a bit overall will lessen this effect.
