    Default Where Have You Been!!

Canon T2i Canon 400mm f/5.6L 1/1600 f/6.3 ISO 400 handheld Cropped a tiny bit off the left side and added canvas on the bottom.

I captured this image a few weeks ago in central Texas near a large tree that had to have 10 or 12 nests from Great Egrets to these Great Blue Herons. It's not a great shot, not as sharp as would have liked but I liked the pose.

This is pretty much "as shot" but I cut off the toes on the herons left foot so I tried my hand at adding canvas and adding the two toes. I also had to add a bit of the tree...yes i see one twig on the bottom I should have added a leaf or two...oops.

I'm going back this weekend and will give it another try, boy I sure wish I had a better camera!

    Thanks,
    David

Interesting composition you chose. I like it and the accompanying title!
My biggest issue with this shot is the cut off beak of the GBH on our right.
You did a good job with PP.
Don't worry about the gear, a good image is a good image whether it is taken on a 1Dx or a 2i,

Thank you Gail. Yes, I hate the fact that the bill was cut off behind the wing, I was in my boat so I was shooting up at a pretty steep angle. I'll be trying again this weekend.

Nice high key presentation and sharpness. It's quite artistic. The flying crests/plumes are awesome. As Gail said, the cut off beak isn't ideal, but this still works for me. Looking forward to more - hope you get some keepers on your next outing there.

I rather like this image. The high key effect was very effective here. For me the fact that the tip of the bill is missing doesn't take away from the story. This is about a heron returning to its partner at the nest, and she seems to be maybe suggesting that he moves a little faster or lodging some kind of complaint or encouragement. Seeing both crowns raised is very special, as are the dangling feet. This came together quite nicely.
