Hi Grace, super pose, and I really like the blues on this species - they pop so well against the colour of the BG. Comp wise, if this were mine, I would take a bit off the LHS, but thats just me.

    Hi Grace,
A bit off the top and RHS to maintain the ratio for me!
Love the gun metal gray BG and the way the blue compliments it.
I see a magenta cast to the perch. Great HA.
    Good one,
    Gail

Nice pose, perch. He really pops against the neutral BG and perch color. He makes for an interesting subject in his molting phase.

Lovely color palette. Striking individual (in spite of the molting feathers). Comp wise I'd either move the bird further up in the frame (adding perch below, if possible) or crop from the top and right. TFS

What a beautiful bird Grace I haven't seen this species before. Love everything about this and can see the reasons for both Stuart and Gail's suggestions of tweaks to the crop.

A lot to like here Grace. The bird was very obliging to land for you on this nice perch with just the right background. I favour Gail suggestion re cropping, just a bit off the top and RHS retaining 3:4 proportions. Regards, Ian

Thanks for the interesting comp suggestions. I still haven't settled on a final version..nothing feels quite right to me yet. Gail, perch is sumac which is red, it looks like it did to me IRL. As for his plumage, thanks, Bill, I didnt know that's why he looked like this.

How cool that he landed on this natural perch for you. I Dont see too many of these posted so you must be pretty happy to have such a nice frame. The color of the bird and the BG look great together.
    Nice work Grace.

Boy does this guy look studly even in his molting plumage, esp against that dark grey BG. Loved the puffed feathers and the dainty vegetation on the perch.
