    Default Roseatte Spoonbill

    [IMG][/IMG]

I took my daughter out to the Smith Island Rookery this past weekend and ended up with few myself.

    Nikon D800
    Nikon 300mm f2.8
    f5.6
    1/1600

Standard LR adjustments, removed some twigs on the right side. I left a few of the bugs in the air as they were thick this past weekend.

    Thanks for looking

Lovely incoming pose, and I like the translucence in the wings and tail feathers. I'm OK with the vegetation at bottom, just wish it was not touching the toe. Good composition. I'd remove the bugs that you left - they do not add much to the image and it's difficult to tell they are bugs.

BTW, a big welcome to BPN!!! As a member you should take advantage of uploading your images on our servers, this way a thumbnail will be generated for better visibility

Lovely light!! (And, yes, welcome!) Not easy to catch a bird just as it launches toward you. I wonder if a little more sharpening would give it a bit more punch?

    Diane,

I must have done something to degrade the IQ during reduction for the web as all of the other images are tack sharp. I corresponded briefly with Daniel about this issue yesterday, but have yet to figure out what I did wrong.

Let us know when you figure it out -- others have seemingly had the same issue.
