    Default Yep, another fox

Sorry, have not taken much else lately ;) I cropped in to remove all distraction except the BG. So 60% of original. Cloned a dark area top right.

    5DIII, 200-400 @ 560 f6.3, ISO800, camo cover and some cat food.

Neil build this into a series, can't go wrong!

Personally I would like all of Mr Fox in, if it was a tighter crop then i think you would have got away with it, but as it stands would love more.

I just pulled the whites in a tad on Levels, although there are a few specks blown they are not important, but it just lifts it I think, likewise adding a Midtone Adjustment, it adds more depth to the subject for sure. If you cloned one area of black, do the other matey, do you not think it jars a little, WDYT? Love that innocent look that will soon go as they they grow up & learn from the Vixen.

Hi Neil , i am fine with the fox images , myself has just got seals .

If you have the fox full in the frame i would like to see it wider . Agree about the blob in ULC , easy to remove . I trust Steve for his tonal suggestions , i would give it a shot and see how it looks.
Lovely pose and over the shoulder look, of this little guy , Well captured

Right, had a butchers at the original, seems the Original is about 95% of full size, confused old me! So I extracted a 12MP ish crop from the 22MP file. Sharp enough I can get away with it I hope. Upped the exposure a touch and also the whites, slight midtones brighten in curves too.

Now that's more like it, me old China, I very much like the crop on this one now.

Can say too much on the other adjustments as 'whopper' is shut down for the night, flagging a bit on BU's. If I was to be hyper critical, then I personally would brush in a % of green that reduces the slight highlight in the BKG running behind the back of the neck. The diagonal of the back with the HA is spot on, gorgeous Neil!!!

Hi Neil good choice of the crop , better than OP , but i would tend to say give a bit more mid tone, meaning the subject .

Thanks Steve. Whatever a BU or HA is I am sure they are useful ;) know what you mean re: bright part but I have nothing to clone from without taking the hairs with it.

Andreas, reluctant to push too much the tones as if the light is flat you cannot fake it without incurring noise and stuff, one of the reasons I struggled with my first attempts... :)

I am very much enjoying your fox series! Beautiful details in the head and eyes & lovely alert ears. Love the re-crop! It is creative and gets rid of some bkgd blobs. Also puts all the emphasis on the fox.

Right Steve, back ups, with ya... which means "whopper" is not what I was thinking :p

Thanks all. Not having to shoot these guys is a bugger right now. :(

Hi Neil - I am a little late to this one. I am very much enjoying your series of foxes. Please keep them coming. I too prefer the comp of the rp. I too thought it could use a boost in midtones and also a little more taming of the highlights so I had a play with it. A luminosity mask for the highlights at 40% and then a curves adjustment for a midtone boost. Not sure if it stray too far from what you saw but a bit of a richer look. WDYT?

    TFS,
    Rachel

I do see what'dya mean Rachel but I am staying on the brighter side, keeping contrast lower and saturation more neutral.
