    Default Sorry everyone...

My internet service has been very unreliable this past week and I have not been able to be on-line very often. I have no idea what the problem might be and even had the GEEK guys check my computer. Hopefully it is just a passing ill wind and reliability will become the norm again.

Hope your up and running soon Nancy. It's frustrating being without internet connectivity!

Know the feeling well. If the "Geeks" can't figure it out, have a cable guy check your outside line and connections. One of the intermittent issues I ran into was due to sharp temperature and humidity change. Turned out to be an issue related to the coax which ran from the underground terminal to the house, it had something to do with the metallic sheathing. Once they changed that line, service has been much more reliable.

Randall, It seems related to how wet the ground is and we had a 3 ft. snowstorm last week. We're told to wait it out. Other problem is we are 2 miles from the main road and I guess the connection weakens over distance & is more easily disrupted. However we live in an area with very few people and thus the cable companies have no interest in upgrading our lines.

There are advantages and disadvantages to living in a secluded place.

Welcome to the club! I haven't been active in OOTB in a while -- partly got too busy, partly our internet service sucks. We're 60 miles from downtown San Francisco and we're stuck with satellite, which doesn't play well with BPN (and many other sites) due to lag time issues.

And we only got cell service maybe 6 months ago.

Good luck getting things worked out! Meanwhile, there are books....
