    Default Making new Willets (That time of year)

    I was fortuntate to capture this behavior last evening on a local beach.

    Canon 1Dx, 600 f4 + 1.4tc (840mm) + lowered rrs tripod
    1/1600, f 5.6, iso800

    Some beach cleanup done in post.

    Light is wonderful , great IQ
    timing and exposure look spot on
    the open wings make it more attractive to look at, lovely image over all

    It's as though the sun shone a spotlight right on your subjects! Super behavior captured, Grace. If it were mine, I would consider a slight corp off of the left and bottom. I wonder whether the male tried to maul the female after the act as they do down this way.

    Grace:

    Lovely light, timing, and the your positioning with the extra beach sand behind the male worked very well.

    Per Marina, I could see a bit of a crop up from the bottom, but the sig always requires a bit more space. I am Ok with the left side as is.

    What a superb image, Grace. The mating pose has been very nicely captured and great to have both catch-lights visible too.

    I really like this one Grace. Nice poses on both and we can see the eyes well and the open beaks add to the image. Beautiful light and setting. Well done.
