I'm scared of snakes, so didn't think I would ever post a snake image, but here it is. This is a non-poisonous snake (as assured to me by my wife Adele and our guide this morning), so i was willing to lie down for a low angle shot. taken mid day in the middle of the road, a head on shot was not possible.

Hi Loi, great to see a new species in here, thanks.

This is a non-poisonous snake (as assured to me by my wife Adele and our guide this morning)
Was that after you signed those new 'Insurance policies' Loi?

Nice detail and I like the fact the tongue is blurred as he/she senses the air. Both BG & FG help separate the subject nicely, although with something like this I'm not sure how best to crop it, probably as presented?

BTW, if we ever come across snakes together Loi, rest assured, I'll be right behind you.

Hi Loi - I agree with Steve, very nice to see a different species. Great timing with the tongue out. Detail and sharpness look good. I'm not a snake fan either and probably would still be in the vehicle.

Hi Loi, i agree with Steve and Rachel about the content of the image.Very nice to see a snake image with good detail ,tone and contrast.I bit more DOF would have been great to get a more detailed tongue.

But different to Steve and Rachel i would have told you to step aside and lay down with the fish eye attached to my cam , and get a really lovely wide shot…...

    Hi Loi,
Nice low angle and good timing to catch the flicking tongue. Looks to be a slight bluish/cyan cast but maybe just me since no one else mentioned it. Common around here, they're often mistaken for rattlesnakes and killed on sight. Unfortunate and unnecessary as even the big ones I've caught (4ft +) are actually quite gentle.

    Hi Loi,

I really like this image and am so pleased you took the trouble to get this low angle. I love snakes, photograph them whenever I have the chance. Have not been bitten yet although I did step on a Puff Adder one evening in the Kalahari .I like the crop here, you left enough space for the subject to "slither" into, nice movement from the tongue, and everything else seems just about right to me - well done, great processing, brilliant shot, and something new for us Wildlife fans to look at!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Luckily I do not have a fish eye. I have a 24-70, but the thought didn't occur to me :)

Andreas, come on give us a treat, you have access to more than any of us, I will do my best in the coming weeks, but it won't be high on the shopping list of captures.

Dear Steve , ok i have a bit of advantage by handling these creatures more or less daily .Once in Kaziranga our guide spotted a King Cobra close to the track , i just got off the Gypsy went down with the 500 and took some shots on more or less eye level, the guide and the driver went almost mad and told me ,i have to come back onto the Gypsy . But i said to them i know what i am doing.
Once in the Kalahari i got two Puff Adders out of the Mata Mata camp, in one night , guests were afraid of these guys, what i fully understand.

So i have a natural low fear of them , i started to handle them as a young boy.

    Cheers Andreas
