Just going through some older files and found this one of some Bloodroot which I liked. Added some BG textures from Belle Fleur Textures, and enhanced the colours quite a bit.

I like the diagonal and the way the leaves seem to be reaching up to caress the flower. The yellow seems strong, however.

Thanks Dennis, here is the OP after flattening, I thought it was just too bland. But I think I may have overdone the V/HS.

I agree, Jackie, with your assessment of it being bland after flattening. I started playing with the contrast of that version and quickly noticed something that had escaped me in your original post. I very much like the pinkish colors of the upper edge, the emerging bloom, and the bottom being separated by the yellow-green. After trying a couple things, I applied a Curves/Increase Contrast adjustment layer. Then, I selected the most intense yellow and desaturated it to some extent with a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer.

Interesting to see the progression of the image with different tweaks. I am most partial to the image posted by Dennis, as being in-between the other two. The pink to yellow transition and the subtle texture is very nice. I find the strong details on the leaf to capture most of my attention rather than the pale, delicate bloom.

I do like your repost Dennis, just with a little less contrast. I think it is somewhere in between the two as Nancy said. Thanks for taking the time.

Lovely image and good suggestions made above. Very nice background color wash and I love how the flower is emerging from the leaves.

I, too, prefer Dennis' version. The colors all seem about the same intensity. Nice image. I never thought of photographing a Bloodroot at an angle. It works well. I like the leaves enfolding the stem--so typical of Bloodroot.
