    Default Wilson Snipe

Finally this past weekend I was able to get my first shot of a snipe. As we all know they are hard to get out in the open but everything came together for me to be able to capture this image.
    Nikon 7100, 200-400mmF4, Tele 1.4x, 1/640s, ISO320, F8

You are right, these guys can be tough to get out in the open. Nice typical habitat, good separation from the BG. Good comp and details. Excellent head angle. A small crop below and left would help minimizing the large oof FG and eliminate the vertical grasses skimming the left edge.

Well done shot. I like the natural environment around the birds too. The bird is sharp and in right position with eye contact. Cheers! Miro

    Very nice Brad!
I like the light and the BG with the grasses but it is a bit busy so
I would take a bit off the bottom and LHS.
I would tone / burn the bright yellow OOF stalk on the left of the snipe and clone out the very dark grass that is on a diagonal on the LHS.
Lovely image and moment well seized and photographed,
    Gail
